The Magnetic Power of Desire: How to Ignite Your Dreams and Make Them Reality

“If you're doing this because you feel like you have a burning desire to do it, then you'll find a way to do it, no matter what. If you're doing this because you're thinking, 'Hey, this will be really cool. I'll be famous. I'll be on YouTube,' then you'll probably quit, because it's not easy to do for the long haul.”

– Trisha Yearwood

“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”

– Jennifer Lee

What is desire?

Desire is defined as something long hoped for. It’s also defined as a longing or craving.
Desire is magnetic, passionate, and attractive.

Caroline Casey, author of Making the Gods Work for You, says,
“All desires are pure if we distill them back to their original intention.”

Our desires are blueprints of what is possible,

Desire is magnetic and attractive, giving you superhuman power to attract resources, synchronicity, and
gifts from the Universe.

The Five Powerful Ways Desire Brings Dreams to Life

If you have a big dream, what enables you to make it a reality? One of the most powerful forces is a burning desire:

  • Desire moves you to take action - it ‘lights a fire under your ass’

  • Desire helps you overcome/transmute obstacles

  • Desire is magnetic; it attracts resources, synchronicity, and gifts from the Universe

  • Desire attunes you to your unique sense of purpose

  • Desire leads to the catalytic moment of manifestation

My Personal Power of Desire

After I got a divorce, I went through a long period of financial struggle. To supplement my income, I got into network marketing and started selling nutritional supplements.

Because network marketing requires sales, you receive a lot of training on putting yourself out there and having a "why" that moves you. Like my network marketing colleagues, I set big financial goals, but I never achieved them.

Around the same time, I began dating post-divorce. I discovered that I was highly motivated to attract a boyfriend. When I set my mind and energy to the task, I could attract a boyfriend just like that - snap of my fingers!

What I realized was that the desire for sex moved me. I could move mountains, overcome obstacles, and generate enough energy to accomplish anything.

So, why couldn’t I gain money and reach my financial goals? Because I don’t have a burning desire for money. Even ten years later, I still struggle to achieve financial goals when they’re just about money. However, if the goal is tied to something I truly care about and have a burning desire to achieve, I can come up with the money.

“What about self-discipline? Isn’t that what really makes things happen?”

I recently read an article by Tauseef Ahmed Dar, CEO of AdexLearnings. He said that research shows the following:

  • Only 8% of people achieve their dreams/goals.

  • 92% just give up or fail to do it.

According to Mr. Dar, discipline and a commitment to achieving your dreams are what make them a reality. I disagree. Having energy, excitement, and passion day after day requires a burning desire. A burning desire creates discipline and commitment. It helps you solve problems and push through tough times.

In my experience, when you attempt to create a big dream or achieve a goal that’s bigger than yourself, your emotional baggage rises to the surface. You feel blocked at every turn. You’re making progress, and just when you're making progress, life throws a major upheaval your way, knocking you off track.

What gets you back on track and helps you put all the pieces back together? Desire.

Because when you want something badly enough, you’ll keep coming back to it, even after you’ve been sidetracked.

I started writing this book in 2013. I even bought a publishing package for it (even though I was a broke single mom) because I wanted it that badly. I wrote all the content, created a website, and published it there. Then, I hit another roadblock - I couldn’t figure out the tech side of selling it online.

In the meantime, I was drowning in financial debt. My kids were three and ten. I wasn’t making enough to cover the mortgage and bills. So, I took on more work and put this project on hold.

However, the dream of writing this book and teaching the Lunar Alchemy practice kept coming back to me. I kept dreaming of it and visualizing it.

There was a lot of emotional baggage to clear. First, I had a voice in my head repeating, “I’m crazy.” I had to shut that voice off because it was making me believe my dreams and work were crazy.

Then came the layers of self-doubt, fear, and perfectionism - the feeling that I wasn’t good enough or didn’t know enough. But I kept visualizing this book, peeling away those layers and obstacles, and seeing them for what they really were - just bullshit programming that I had absorbed at some point in my life.

I kept writing drafts, but life kept pulling me away.

Then, this year, after doing Moon work, visualizing, and stoking my desire, I decided that this was the most important thing to accomplish in my life right now. And it happened. I started completing my book in earnest.

And now, it is an #1 Amazon Bestseller.

This book exists because of desire.

Not discipline.

Not routine.

But the deep, undeniable pull that kept bringing me back to it.

How to stoke your dreams into a burning desire

Do you know how you defined your dream? If yes, visualize that dream coming true, and as you visualize it, feel what it feels like to achieve this dream or desire. Feel all those juicy feelings of accomplishment, joy, and pride. When you visualize with emotion, you can stoke up the fire of desire. When you feel it, it makes it real to you, and you want it more. This is also a good tip for manifestation - visualize the outcome using emotion to supercharge it.

You can also use the Lunar Alchemy process to help you reveal what you deeply desire. When you do your New Moon wheel, you’re going to ask questions about how you want to feel, like:

  • How do you want to feel mentally?

  • How do you want to feel financially?

  • How do you want to feel physically?

  • How do you want to feel in your environment?

  • How do you want to feel emotionally?

  • How do you want to feel in relationships?

  • How do you want to feel spiritually?

  • How do you want to feel creatively?

As you get answers to these questions, play with the emotions, ponder them, consider them, and test them out. Are these really the emotions that make you feel alive, enthusiastic, and ‘on fire’?
