Listening to yourself is a powerful practice that offers numerous benefits, including:
Listening is receptive and develops inner peace and happiness:
Gradually, as I began to listen and respond to my inner self, my sense of inner peace expanded because my psyche wasn’t crying out so loudly to get my attention. I learned ways to soothe myself and work through emotional pain. I also found that I knew what I wanted and needed and could take action to make that a reality for myself.
Listening promotes connection with your higher self:
After doing the morning pages for several weeks, I began to feel present with myself. I knew how I felt and what was going on with me. Then, I started to develop a relationship with my higher self and creativity. By listening and tuning inward consistently, you’re able to get past the monkey mind and emotional noise that’s keeping you from hearing your higher self and your guidance.
Listening gives you greater self-awareness:
When you listen to your body, you develop a sense of awareness of how you feel, what you need, and what your body is telling you. You can also listen to your thoughts and what you say, this will tell you a lot about what you think and believe about yourself. You can listen to your emotions and find out how you’re feeling. You can also listen to your spirit and receive inner guidance. All of this gives you greater self-awareness.
Listening develops your intuition:
Tuning inward and listening will help you develop your intuition. As you develop listening and feeling in your body, you'll also start to hear your gut instincts talking to you. Similarly, as you begin to listen to your thoughts and emotions, you’ll also start to develop your intuition. I would say your intuition is already there; you just need to tune into it.
Listening and responding establishes trust in yourself and authenticity:
Listening is about hearing what’s happening and responding appropriately. As you develop your inner listening and respond to it, you'll start to trust yourself, your body, emotions, gut, and intuition. Learning to trust yourself, what you want, and what to do about it is crucial for feeling empowered and authentic.
